OK. No one seems to have replied to this, so I will.
I first came across this character when I was a kid of about 12 and although he was riding around on a very stereotypical chopper of the time I still thought he was cool. Now I can't say I was a follower of the comics so I'm not aware of his origins etc, but nevertheless his appeal has never diminished. So it was with this in mind when I sat down to watch marvel's latest foray into a big screen adaptation. First impressions were......Hmmm!! I have no problem with Cage as Johnny Blaze. I think he was a good choice as he's pretty neutral as far as big names go. Fonda was excellent but I think he deserved more screen time but the other bad guys were just fodder and dispatched far too easily. This movie as far as I'm concerned didn't suck. It was basically a formulaic story to introduce the character of Blaze and the Ghost Rider, who incidently looked awesome and the bike? Wow I want it. There was so much more that could've been done and wasn't. I wanted to see the ghost rider dishing out justice a bit more but alas it was not to be. This is an average movie on the first watch and you leave with a feeling it could've been so much more. However on a second watch it is actually better. It's a film that doesn't take itself too seriously and Cage is happy to play along with this. The bit with the lizard at the side of the road cracks me up every time. Spiderman it isn't. And personally I hope it makes enough $ at the box office as I'd like to see where they take it next. Cheers |

Ive watched this flick over and over several times. I am a HUGE Ghost Rider fan and have pretty much EVERY issue of EVERY comic he has ever appeared in, Nick Cage is an EXCELLENT choice for Blaze and movie seems like a great warm up for a sequel now that the character has been established. One thing I have noticed is that the older fans in the 30-40s age range all seem to agree that Nick Cage plays the Ghost rider that we grew up with in the old days. The younger fans all fail to see this version and all want younger actors, which I see as being pretty logical since you tend to identify with what you grew up with or can more easily identify with. I for one am happy that for once the original older fans got be represented and we didnt end up with a Fast and the Furious "Kfed" hip hop version of a classic character.

Bought my dvd today... just watched it. What can I say... Nick was a great choice for the rider. Sam Elliots character was just as bad ass with that horse!!! I absolutely loved all the scenes where Ghost Rider was fighting and slinging his chain- some one needs to make a music video of all those scenes. The only things I didnt like were the fact that the movie felt likw it had been done before. The CGI in some areas was a bit much.
Great flick- worth buying the dvd if you are a skull/ flames fan. "Give them nothing.. but take from them EVERYTHING!!!"
